Screenprint Monolith Workshop

Visiting Artist Workshop: Screenprint Monotypes with Sarah Marshall

Date: Saturday, May 28, 2022; 10am-4pm

Ages: Adult

Capacity: 8-15 ppl.

Where: WMA’s Studio

Cost: $85/members, $95/not-yet-members

Participants in this workshop will learn about printmaking through the processes of silkscreen and monotype with artist Sarah Marshall. Using inks and water-soluble crayons, they will draw directly on the silkscreen surface to create colorful images. These drawings can be transferred to paper several times, then developed and re-worked. The monotype process can be immediate and spontaneous or allow for more precise and detailed work.

The workshop will address fundamental printmaking concepts such as repetition, registration, and transfer. The basic equipment is readily available through local art supply stores and online vendors, and the materials used are water-based and non-toxic. Paper, ink, and drawing materials will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring their own ideas and sketches, or they can work with imagery provided by the instructor.
