Tell us a little about yourself. Family, careers, hobbies, fun facts. Go all out!

Hi! I’m Alexis and I’m 26 years old. I was born in Florida but live in Alabama currently. I obtained my CNA license when I was in 12th grade & have worked as a CNA ever since. I currently work at a daycare full-time and teach 2.5/3 years olds and work as a CNA when needed. I have 3 beautiful little girls and a spouse who is absolutely amazing! I love to be on some water, try new restaurants, go shopping, or even have a relaxed day in the house. My goal is to eventually become an RN.

What is your greatest source of motivation as a mother?

My greatest source of motivation as a mother is knowing that my family needs me. I am the backbone of our family… I’m the one they know will calm them down in a hurry. I keep going for my family.

What is the most rewarding part of motherhood for you?

The most rewarding part of motherhood for me is seeing my kids happy. I often feel like I’m not doing enough for them. But when they have smiles on their face and they are genuinely happy, that’s the biggest reward to me.

How do you balance being a mother and pursuing your personal goals?

I am a mother first but I’m also human. I have things I need to accomplish. I take care of my kids and the responsibilities that go along with them first. Then I make time for myself to accomplish whatever is needed to be done.

What is the most important lesson you have learned as a mother?

Never take your frustration out on your kids. It can be hard sometimes because they nag and fight a lot. We as parents have to understand that they are just kids and don’t realize that we are also dealing with inside battles.

What advice would you give to a new mother?

Love on your baby. Read to them. Sing to them. Let them be messy from time to time. You’ll blink and they’re getting bigger.

What values do you prioritize in your parenting?

It is important for my children to learn good manners, responsibility, kindness, and self-love.

How do you stay connected with your partner while being a mother?

I’m not going to lie and say it is easy because it’s not. If you forget to make time for your spouse then things will get rocky. It is important to dedicate time to your partner. Get a sitter and go out on a nice date. Or you could just put the kids to sleep and have a movie night with your spouse’s favorite snacks. Make your spouse as much of a priority as your kids.
