by
Teacher of the month WP April 23

This month’s Teacher of the Month is Bill Singleton, a Special Education teacher at

Singleton is known for his commitment to helping students achieve their full potential and his passion for education is evident in everything he does.

When asked what inspired him to become a teacher, Singleton responded that it was a “calling” and that he couldn’t imagine doing anything else. This deep sense of purpose is reflected in his teaching, as he works tirelessly to engage students and help them discover their own passion for learning.

One of the things Singleton enjoys most about teaching children in this age range is the sense of excitement that comes with watching a student finally understand a concept. As he puts it, “It warms my heart to have been a part of helping students become the person they are today.”

To engage students in the classroom, Singleton relies on research-based instructional strategies and connects learning to real-world situations. He encourages active participation in discussions and learning experiences, helping students to discover their own interests and passions.

Of course, teaching isn’t without its challenges, and Singleton is no stranger to frustration. He finds it difficult to reach all students, particularly those with different learning challenges and laments a lack of parental support in some cases. Additionally, with the pace of technology and educational materials, it can be difficult to find easy and effective platforms to manage classrooms effectively.

However, Singleton is not one to be discouraged, and he regularly collaborates with other teachers and staff to support student success. He is always looking for new ideas and teaching practices to bring into the classroom, and he encourages a love of learning in his students by making learning fun, providing hands-on experiences, and supporting them every step of the way.

In nominating Singleton for Teacher of the Month, Heather Turvin had this to say: “He started the mid-school year (Jan) and jumped right in and has done an amazing job!” This sentiment is echoed by his colleagues and students alike, who appreciate his dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to helping students achieve their full potential.

Outside of teaching, Singleton enjoys spending time with his wife, Melissa, and their two Goldendoodles, Bear, and Bandit. His daughter, Hilary, is also an educator and teaches 4th grade.

In conclusion, we are thrilled to honor Bill Singleton as this month’s Teacher of the Month. His dedication to his students and his passion for education serve as an inspiration to us all, and we wish him all the best in his continued teaching career.
